Lizori

Located in the middle of the Spoleto valley, whose panorama impressed Saint Francis of Assisi who, after a journey back from Rome, wrote: “Nihil jucundius vidi Valle mea Spoletana”, Lizori has always been the destination of all those who needed “a breathe of life”. This is what sister Mary wrote in June 21st, 1942 to Pope Pio XII, explaining why she had decided to leave the Institute of the Franciscan Missionary of Mary to live in the very heart of Umbria. There, following Saint Francis’ idea, she created the Franciscan monastery close to the Castle di Pissignano.
